Overall: I really wanted to like this drives as I had heard such good things about it. Unfortunately I couldn't get on with it. I found the head to large at address. I know it is the same volume as all 460cc drivers but the G5 seemed very deep (front to back), like having a small bucket at the end of shaft so i never really got confident with it. in the end I opted for the callaway X460 which has been superb.
Strengths: Made a huge difference to my game. Long, accurate, conisistent (that's the club, not me) I actually like the shadow ball on top as I find it really helps.
Weaknesses: I have to carry my old Callaway Big Bertha just in case I have to play a faded drive - the G5 is just too forgiving and this is from someone whose natural shape is a fade!
Overall: I can't see me changing in the near future but that new square driver seems to be pressing all the right buttons from the reviews I've read.
Strengths: This is a great driver,it will suit low and high h/cappers alike.I got the 10.5 with the pro launch shaft ,I wanted something forgiving and boy this is it.Go and get the custom fit, it is worth it. I have had mine for a year now and it is the dogs bo@@~*ks.
Weaknesses: The long walk to play your next shot!
Overall: Start getting used to the wedges, thats all you will need for your 2nd shot. Its the number one lightsaber in my bag.
Strengths: Very long and very accurate. Best driver I have tried and I have tried over a dozen before coming up with this bold statement. When you catch the ball less than perfectly you still get excellent results, this fills you with confidence. Worth getting set up with the correct loft and shaft on a launch monitor as there are lots of options.
Weaknesses: Headcover isn't perfect but does the job.
Overall: Superb driver wish I had found it earlier, out performs my old taylormade by over 30 yards but this is also down to the shaft and loft combination I have as well. Give it a try
Strengths: This driver's biggest strength is it`s consistency. If you want to hit more fairways then this driver does exactly that.
It`s also a great driver to fill you full of confidence standing on the tee, knowing how accurate it is and the size of it`s head, along with its good looks make this a formidable club.
Weaknesses: Hard to find a weakness in such a good driver without being petty. It's available at a good price, looks good and performs well and is a quality product. This driver does not have a weakness - it`s that good.
Overall: Everything a top performing driver should be.
Strengths: Most accurate driver I have every owned or hit. It is quite simply amazing,
Weaknesses: None
Overall: IMy previous drivers were the Taylor Made R7 Quad with the bolt on weights (what is that all about?!) and latterly Calloway X460 which was the worst driver I have ever owned. The Ping Zings! Outstanding!
Strengths: I went for the Aldila NV65 stiff and 9 degree head. Remarkably easy to hit and the distance it goes compared to my old driver is awesome. For @£175 this has to be a great value for a game altering club.
Weaknesses: Headcover too small to protect shaft leading to rubbing marks on shaft. Buy another headcover !!!
Overall: I can not recommend this club highly enough. I tried all the other top drivers Titleist , Nike etc and this club just destroys them all. Finding middle of the fairways even with off centre hits and when you connect right this club absolutly smokes.
Overall: I wasnt expecting great things from the G5, especially as I struggled with the G2 and heard they were very similar. But after the first few rounds, I was gobsmacked by the G5's performance.
It's as long as any driver I have hit, has great forgiveness and is very accurate. I have had a couple of bad rounds with it but that was down to me not swinging well.
To top it all off, it comes at a great price. I seriously cannot recommend this driver enough. IMO it's in the top three drivers available and certainly the best value driver available today.
Great job, Ping!
