'WILL LOWER YOUR SCORES!'
Strengths:
The ease of input, once you get the hang of it, it takes no time at all.
The number of Stats you receive and the detail of the Stats fantastic.
Enables you to practice effectively - the right areas.

[Update 01/05/08] This is my updated review to the New Improved Strokeaverage.com site.
The information it is able to produce and analyse is fantastic, although yet to use the report section "Coaches Corner" I have looked at the examples and they look very informative. As I said previously it enables you to target the weaker areas of your game. And when you do it will hopefully show the improvements made, as you keep adding round after round.

Weaknesses:
As some others have mentioned maybe more visual display to Stats and be useful to see which sides of fairways and greens were missed. Might also be an idea to have a "note page" for each round where players could note anything from what they drank, ate on course or before too how they warmed up or how they felt.

[Update 01/05/08] Only weakness is it might be easier and quicker to input your round if you only had the options of the clubs you had already selected, ie if you haven't got a 5 wood or utility 2 don't show it as an option on inputing your scores.

Hopefully the site will soon produce more visual reports as has been mentioned.

Overall:
"What you think you need to work on is not always what you actually need to work on to improve" For me this statement from Richard Finch sums it up, too many of us don't work on the things we need to improve our game and this Analysis Software by StrokeAverage.com shows exactely where you need to improve even down to left to right putts!!

Excellent Product

[Update 01/05/08] Great site, great product the more you put in the more you'll get out. The new site has poll's links to other sites too.
If your a keen competive golfer then this site will definately help reduce your scores!

'A TOP QUALITY GAME ANALYSIS PACKAGE'
Strengths:
The statistics are superb. I've never really considered where my strengths & weaknesses are in my game - I've just assumed that I was an ok iron player and a reasonable putter. This package has helped show that this is not really the whole truth! In fact it demonstrates that I'm a pretty poor with the irons but quite good with the short stick! The stats are presented in a myriad of different formats but are easy to understand and let you see where your good and bad parts of your game are. The shots are quick to enter and give you the majority of situations you'll find yourself in (including some you shouldn't really admit to ie in the trees!!)
The site is easy to navigate & has a good interface. It makes what can be a tedious chore of entering round details into a worthwhile exercise.
Weaknesses:
None really. It would be nice to see the information displayed graphically, but that is a minor gripe.
Overall:
A fatastic package and one that every golfer aspiring to play better should consider. It highlights strengths & weaknesses in your game and gives you clear areas of the game to work on. Well done strokeaverage.com - a top product!!

'THE COMPLETE STATISTICS PACKAGE'
Strengths:
Definitely the statistics. You are able to build a set of details that tell you all you need to know about your game, highlighting areas of both strength and weakness.
The filters enable you to make comparisons on how your game is developing, or how you are affected by different conditions.
It is easy to use with excellent tutorials if required.
The site is continually being updated, with suggestions made by users being incorporated where possible.
Weaknesses:
It would be good to have a visual representation of the statistics, as this would make the data more immediate to interpret.
Overall:
If you are serious about improving your game, this is an essential tool.
Easy and thought provoking to use, it gives you all you will ever need to highlight which aspects of you game to work on.

'ALL THE STATS YOU WILL EVER NEED'
Strengths:
It is very indepth, it logs all of your shots and shows you exactly where you need to sharpen up. Even though ive only managed to put in 5 cards so far i am starting to see what is costing me shots and what is my strong suit. The website is very clear and easy to understand. The ability to download the stats sheet is an excellent option.
Weaknesses:
I agree with the others about a lack of visual graphics, it is something alot of the other round recording websites use to great effect. It would also be good to perhaps be able to incorporate your handicap into it aswell.
Overall:
A very good website, easy to use and will provide you with all the stats you could possibly need. It may take you awhile to put in all the data for the first couple of rounds but once you get the hang of it you should get quicker. Take the stat sheet with you to stop a head scratching exercise when you get home and input your card.
If you are someone who thrives on all the stats then this is the website for you!!

'ON THE UP'
Strengths:
Excellent stats section with some very useful besoke stats, effective putting etc. Has already come up with some useful stuff as i was stalking putts today I had at the forefront of my thoughts "You allways overborrow!!"
Weaknesses:
Not quite there yet with display of stats, it really needs some charts with trendlines to show improvement etc. Addition of a targets and goals would make it much easier to use as i find it quite a long haul to figure out where I'm lacking. All these are temperd by the sites willingness to improve so i'm sure it will be there in a short while. Also mentioned previously was a traffic light system, maybe related to handicap, to show what areas are holding back your scoring
Overall:
Excellent web site that i would recommed to anyone looking to improve (everyone?!). Also a brilliant way to keep the interest up when you get home after a round!

'IF YOU WANT STATS THEN GO HERE!'
Strengths:
Inputting data of each shot in the round requires an excellent memory, or a notebook or voice recorder. Stokeaverage counter this problem with the option of downloading stat sheets, where it details the info needed. It takes some time to enter data at first; however users will find that once they get used to it, inevitably the process will get easier. Obviously, taking the time to do so is rewarding – stats couldn’t be collated with just scores, could it?

The analysis features of the strokeaverage site are in depth and easy to understand. Immediately after a round is entered, stats can be viewed. These are broken down into sections, such as par 3, 4 and 5 performances, making it easier to ‘digest’.

Useful additions to the site include the equipment list. This is where a user can select what equipment they use, which adds to the analysis of a round.

Navigation around the site is excellent. Interfaces are clean and crisp and easy to follow. Tutorials can be viewed in order to gain basic information about each area of the site.

Weaknesses:
The first step in submitting a round is to search for your course. Finding my home course drew a blank, which involved me having to input the details manually. However, a search for English courses returns a healthy selection of courses. Naturally, as the site develops over the coming months, this database will increase.

As said above, this requires an
excellent memory.
Also, at first, the amount of stats available can be daunting but the user soon gets used to it.
Strokeaverage could be improved by incorporating a handicap tracking device, in addition to the stats. This could be linked to the stats, for example showing how the handicap might change if the number of putts decreases etc.
Overall:
Overall, strokeaverage.com is a great way to analyse pitfalls in your game. It is easy and fun to use and interesting to see real statistics about your game. 14 day trials can be obtained, with a further annual membership for a small but ultimately worthwhile fee.

'MORE STATS THAN YOU CAN SHAKE A STICK AT'
Strengths:
best part of the site is definitely the stats...there's loads of them, although I had to use the tutorial to understand what some of them were!!
Weaknesses:
equipment, not sure what value that area gives, apart from the balls bit. I don't change my clubs often enough for it to make a difference.

would be nice to see a calendar entry when your selecting the date of the round, as often I can't remember the date, just know it was last weekend!

most of all I would love to see a graphical representation of the stats..ie how have I progressed over a period of time. I used this a lot within Excel to show gir/ fairways hit/ up&downs and puts per round.

and finally, how about a traffic light system for the stats. red for areas which we need to look at, amber for ok but may have problems and green for doing quite well at.
Overall:
very good site with lots to look at.
