More about PING

RRP: £199
Year: 2004

Description: For most players, distance from the tee is a top priority. The key to hitting the longest drives possible with your swing is to hit the ball with the proper launch angle with the proper spin for your swing speed. While many players believe that a low drive that rolls along the ground will give them maximum distance, this is usually not the case. The ideal trajectory for a driver is generally higher than most players presume, and the general rule is that the slower your swing speed, the more loft and shaft flex your driver should have. PING engineers developed the new G2 driver with four loft options, including a 15.5° loft for players with slower swing speeds. Combined with a more flexible shaft, this new driver loft can help launch the ball at the proper angle for maximum distance. The technology in PING metal woods not only offers a high energy transfer for maximum ball speed, but also forgiveness on mis-hits and optimum spin rates for the proper roll when the ball hits the ground. The new G2 driver's precision-milled, variable thickness face, combined with the larger head size and strategic internal weighting creates the longest, straightest, most forgiving PING driver to date. For maximum control, PING fairway woods are designed to be custom-fit for color code (lie angle) and are available with several shaft flex options and grip sizes. G2 fairway woods have variable sole thicknesses which effectively changes the center of gravity to produce different amounts of spin, and roll, for each wood. The #3-wood's sole, for example, is thicker toward the face for maximum roll, while the L-wood's sole is thicker at the rear of the club for higher, softer-landing shots.
