Description: The TaylorMade r5 TP features a 450 cubic centimetres head – the same size as the r5 dual Type D and r5 dual Type N. At standard swing weight, the r5 dual TP boasts an MOI similar to that of the r5 dual Type N. Increasing the r5 dual TP’s swing weight by installing heavier TLC cartridges will improve the MOI slightly. The TLC cartridges in the r5 dual Type D and Type N drivers are pre-configured and immovable. Many tour professionals took interest in the r5 dual Type N because of its extraordinary forgiveness. Most asked us if we could incorporate Movable Weight Technology into it. We did, and the result is the r5 dual TP. The cartridges in the r5 dual Type D and Type N will remain. TaylorMade makes it easier for golfers by pre-configuring the TLC cartridges to produce a draw in the r5 dual Type D and a neutral, straight flight in the r5 dual Type N. Thus, golfers seeking either a draw or a straight flight will not have to worry about changing or configuring cartridges – that job has already been done by TaylorMade engineers. The r5 dual TP is engineered with a low CG, making it easy to launch the ball on a high, long-carrying ball-flight. The r5 dual TP’s combination of large, deep clubface and low CG creates an excellent opportunity to activate what’s known as vertical-gear effect, which refers to what happens when impact is made with the upper part of the clubface, above the CG. When that happens, the top of the clubhead rotates slightly away from the target at impact while the bottom of the clubhead rotates slightly toward the target. That counteracts the backspin normally created by clubface loft. The result is a higher launch angle and less backspin, a combination that promotes greater distance. The r5 dual TP shares the same clubhead shape as the r5 dual Type N. The Diamana is a high-end, high-performance shaft that’s tour-proven. Among the elite players that use it are Sergio Garcia, Retief Goosen and Mike Weir.
