GolfBuddy CT2 review

When it comes to compact, versatile golf GPS devices, look no further than our friends at GolfBuddy.

Redefining what's achievable in small distance measuring devices with the launch of its compact new CT2,the golf GPS specialist has once again struck gold with this easy-to-use device than can be attached anywhere you like while you play the game you love.

Perfect for players who want comfort, style and yardages all at a glance, the pocket-sized CT2 even provides readings directly from the golfer's angle of approach, meaning it's ideal if you find yourself playing from the wrong fairway from time to time!

On top of simple-to-navigate gadgets and a featherweight feel, we find it to be more of a versatile product than previous iterations as it can clip on to towel rings, belts, lanyards, bags or even shirt pockets.

And like most devices these days, it will also automatically recognise which hole and course you are on when standing on the first tee - technology that continues to blow our mind.

Another key aspect of this product is its 18-hour battery life in GPS mode to save you faffing around charging the product after every round you play.

While the yardages are clear and bold, they will only give you measurements to the front, middle and back of the green, as well as those dreaded hazards. But let's be honest, if you're an average golfer, that will likely be all you will want. If you want yardages direct to the cup, you will be best suited to a laser.

The CT2 also comes packed with its popular 'Dynamic Green View with Pin Placement' feature that provides readings directly from your angle of approach. You can also place the pin in nine different settings, should you have access to a pin sheet before your round.

That's really the beauty of this product - play your shot, walk to your ball, glance at the product, and fire away. It's even legal for tournament play.

Given golf's unfortunate reputation for being a little too slow these days, you have to tip your cap at a product that encourages players to get on with this finicky game, but at the same time, gives them all the information they need at a glance.

The CT2  is also waterproof up to 10 metres in case you fall in a lake, comes with a digital scorecard should you forget your pencil, a clock to ensure you're home on time, a stopwatch to prove to your mate he or she takes longer than a minute over every shot, and an odometer to prove to your partner that golfing is actually a necessity for you to keep fit.

It comes in neat white/blue or white/green versions and is preloaded with more than 38,000 courses around the globe, all of which are available for free without any expensive annual subscriptions. Take your product out the box, charge it up, and head to the first tee.
