UTTERLY SUPERB

Feel, looks, price, performance, forgiveness.
None
Having not played golf for a long time, I bought a set of crappy Donnay clubs to get me back in the swing ! Used them for about a year and couldn't keep the ball straight. After reading a few mags and online reviews, I plumped for these babies and boy have I not been dissapointed. My shots have improved beyond belief. They feel great in the hand and are so solid they give you instant confidence. Even miss-hits seem to go straight. Been using the MX-17s for a year now and it has made golf a much better experience.

FORGIVING AND GREAT-LOOKING IRONS

Forgiving, long and easy to shape.
Absolutely none
Decided last summer to take golf a bit more seriously and swapped my £89 Donnay specials for these great irons. I'm 6'4" and swing pretty fast, so I got these irons custom fitted (+1.5" +2 deg upright, stiff shafts). My short game has always been reasonable so the biggest plus for me was 3- to 6- irons which now fly long and true. I've taken a few lessons and the pro was really impressed with my clubs - I hit a natural fade, but this is easy to control with these clubs, rarely becoming a slice even in windy conditions. I'm just starting to learn to shape shots and the Mizunos are really easy to work.

My handicap is now eight shots lower in six months and I have no plans to change these irons any time soon.

Some reviews have stated that they have a high flight path, with which I agree, but this doesn't seem to cost any distance as the sweet spot is incredibly sweet indeed. Also, greater distance in the air and shorter roll gives greater accuracy when approaching greens.

OUTSTANDING QUALITY

Very forgiving from anywhere on the course. Very good off the tee and very good out of light to mid-rough. Easy to hit off the fairways.
Not as strong as other irons out of deep rough.
Superb budget club.
