A new initiative has been launched offering UK golfers the chance to discover some of Ireland's best-kept secrets at a fraction of the normal cost

Club Choice Ireland has been unveiled by the Irish Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Leo Varadkar, established by a group of golf clubs, resorts, hotels and travel operators to raise awareness of the superb golf locations in the south, east and midland regions of the Emirald Isle.

Backed by Fáilte Ireland and Tourism Ireland 29 trading partners have embarked on a marketing campaign  featuring a series of Irish-flavoured golf days aimed at attracting 1,500 additional visitors to the regions.

David Boyce, head of business and sports tourism for Tourism Ireland GB, said: “Successes like Rory McIlroy and Darren Clarke mean that golf has never been so popular and this is a fantastic way of showcasing great courses that may be less well known and driving new business to Ireland.”

Adds Club Choice managing director Tiernan Byrne: "We are focussing on quality, value and ease of access  and hopefully it will result in an additional €2m spend in the regions.”

He says golfers will feel the benefit of dealing with one point of contact without hidden charges in providing a service by its members, for its members, with packages tailored to suit the needs of any group including golf, accommodation, food and ferry travel with partners Stena Line.

The group will visit 120 golf clubs in the UK to further promote their scheme. For more information call free to 0800 285 1490 or visit www.clubchoiceireland.com
