Greg Norman makes Rory McIlroy admission ahead of LIV Golf Adelaide
Greg Norman has opened up on the latest Rory McIlroy to LIV Golf rumours at LIV Golf Adelaide.
Greg Norman has revealed an offer was 'never' put on the table for Rory McIlroy to join LIV Golf, following last week's shock rumours the PGA Tour superstar was about to jump ship.
The rumour about the 34-year-old Northern Irishman started two weeks ago after CityAM claimed two sources told the publication a deal worth $850m was on the horizon.
McIlroy's management team were quick to pour cold water on the shock claim and later the four-time major champion told Golf Central he will play the PGA Tour 'for the rest of my life'.
News then emerged earlier this week that McIlroy would be making a shock U-turn to the PGA Tour's policy board, having stepped down from his player director position at the end of 2023.
McIlroy initially explained he was stepping down from the board because he wanted to spend more time focusing on his golf game, and have more extra time with his family outside of the ropes.

LIV Golf CEO Norman, 69, was pressed by reporters ahead of LIV Golf Adelaide this week as to what he made of all the McIlroy hype surrounding the Saudi-bankrolled circuit this month.
Norman said it was simply 'white noise' and that McIlroy was never even presented with an offer by LIV Golf.
However, the Great White Shark admitted the door will always be open for McIlroy should he ever have a change of heart.

Norman said:
"LIV never put an offer to him. We didn't need to make a comment about this, it's typical white noise that gets out there in the industry.
"If Rory was willing to sit down and have a conversation with us, would we be happy to sit down with him? 100%. No different to any other player who would be interested in coming to play with us."
