#4 - STRAIGHT BACK AND THROUGH PUTTING STROKE

There are differences of opinion on whether it's possible to have a straight putting stroke or whether we should swing on an arc, but I think we should all admit that there have been many great putters attempting to adopt both methods.

Without offering an opinion, what I can say from my coaching is that I see more golfers losing control of their club face due to an exaggerated arc to their stroke than those who try to perform a straighter stroke.

Could it be that attempting the straighter stroke won’t actually give us one, but will reduce face rotation?

Whatever the goal with your putting stroke my advice would be to pay attention to the rotation of the putter face and try to keep that to a minimum.
