The Celtic Manor Resort which hosted the dramatic 2010 clash between Europe and the USA has being shortlisted for two prestigious Sport Industry Awards.
The five-star hotel which features the TwentyTen course, and was hailed as hosting the 'greatest ever' Ryder Cup has been nominated as ‘Sport Venue of the Year’ award and is one of six contenders for the ‘Best Use of Public Relations in a Sport Campaign’ category.
Ascot Racecourse and the O2 Arena in Docklands are the others shortlisted for the top venue award, which will recognise the place that offered 'the most flexible, creative and meticulous approach to hosting events and serving the needs of its visitors' in 2010.
Reaching the shortlist for the ‘Best Use of PR' recognises a co-ordinated media and public relations strategy to maximise the exposure brought by the Ryder Cup, which was led by London-based agency, Four Communications.
Also listed are British Gas (Swimming sponsorship), Jaguar (Official partner to the England cricket team, Sky (Sky Ride 2010), The Co-operative (Co-operative Rugby League Championships) and Umbro (England football away shirt launch).

Despite 55 per cent of October’s monthly rainfall falling in just three days, the team of 130 greenkeepers and support staff at Celtic Manor helped ensure it was played through to its exhilarating climax.
The 10th annual Sport Industry Awards dinner takes place on May 11 at Battersea Evolution in Londo
