New Orleans Saints will be forced to wear their road white jerseys while hosting the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at the Superdome after their coach Sean Payton lost a golf bet with Eagles coach Doug Pederson.

Payton and Pederson were paired together during an annual golf outing at the NFL owner’s meetings in Orlando, and they settled on uniform selection to give their 18-hole match a little more of an edge.

“We wanted to liven up the match, and we decided to bet and we chose jersey colors,” said Pederson. “Three holes into it, ended up beating him, and that was it.”

Just like football, or soccer for our American friends, the home team always gets to pick its jersey colour. Typically, the Saints will always wear their black home jerseys when playing at the Superdrome.

The Saints are off to a flyer in the NFL this season with an impressive 8-1 record thus far that has carried them to the top of the betting market for the season-long race for the Superbowl.
