In just his third tournament after returning from injury, Pat Perez claimed his second PGA Tour title since 2009 at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba.

The American was out of action for most of 2016 following shoulder surgery, but has come back with three impressive outings – T33, T7 and 1st.

“I woke up this morning and I knew I was going to win,” Perez said. “I didn't take a step from getting out of bed this morning that I didn't have in my mind I was going to win.”

Perez carded a four-under 67 in his final round, finishing two strokes ahead of compatriot Gary Woodland.

"I wasn't all that comfortable out there. This course kind of makes you put the steer on sometimes," he said.

The 40-year-old’s other win came at the Bob Hope Classic in January 2009.
