Phil Mickelson smashes his DRIVER from inside a BUSH at the Shriners!

Phil Mickelson took one of the more peculiar club selections you will ever see during the third round of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open when hitting a driver out of a bush. Yes, a bush, and a big one at that.

Mickelson, 49, started the week brightly with a round of 65, but he fell back into the pack with rounds of 69 and 74 thereafter, before finishing with a respectable 67 to finish solo 61st.

But like most weeks on the PGA Tour, there is always at least magic shot from Lefty for us all to admire and his driver from a bush in the desert on the par-5 9th hole was exactly that.

Mickelson was initially set on hitting a hybrid back into the fairway, but this isn't your average PGA Tour pro. This is Phil Mickelson.

The five-time major champion's tee shot went well left and over the cart path into the bush. But from there, Mickelson saw some of the ball and decided after starting his round with four bogeys that he may as well whip out the Epic Flash.

The drive from the bush went 203 yards and some 50 yards short of the green, and he would go on to make a par.

Kevin Na went on to win the tournament, defeating his compatriot Patrick Cantlay with a par at the second extra hole.

Cantlay held a one-stroke lead with two holes to play but dunked his tee shot into the water on the 17th hole to let Na back in with a chance, which he duly accepted.

Na, who also won the event on the same score of 23-under par in 2011, is now the second two-time winner of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, emulating the feat previously set by Jim Furyk.
