Henrik Stenson will take a narrow one-shot advantage into the final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational, but a number of other star names are tucked in close behind.

Stenson, 41, outweighed three bogeys with four birdies for a round of 1-under 71 to push himself out in front on 12-under and one stroke ahead of playing partner Bryson DeChambeau, who posted a 72.

The 2016 Open champion is going in search of a seventh PGA Tour title, while DeChambeau is looking to land his second.

Rory McIlroy made the big move of the day with a controlled round of 67 to lie just two strokes behind in solo third on 10-under, while Justin Rose matched his score to move up to a tie for fourth with Ryan Moore on 9-under.

Rickie Fowler had raced up the board into a tie for the lead early on the back nine, but stumbled home with a bogey at 17 and disastrous double at 18 to fall four strokes behind Stenson.

Tiger Woods enjoyed another successful day on the course with a solid round of 69, but he lies five strokes behind on 7-under in a tie for 10th.

Woods, who is now favourite for the Masters next month, is bidding to win his first tournament on the PGA Tour since a seven-shot victory at the Bridgestone Invitational in August 2013.

"I'm gonna have to shoot a low one tomorrow, and probably get a little bit of help," said Woods. "But my responsibility is to shoot a low one."

This is just the fifth event Woods has played in 2018 in his comeback to the PGA Tour. Though his short game has been very solid throughout his return, Woods lost strokes to the field around the green Saturday.

The 14-time major champion made up for it best that he could by making more than 115 feet worth of putts. Woods maintained an impressive streak near the hole, and is now 45 of 45 for the week putting inside 9 feet.
