Tiger Woods "looks like an old man", says Brandel Chamblee

Tiger Woods has been grilled by Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee as an "old man" following his first-round 77 and eventual withdrawal from this week's Dubai Desert Classic.

Woods, 41, missed the cut in his return to the PGA Tour at last week's Farmers Insurance Open on 4-over, before going on to shoot a round of 5-over in Dubai and then pulling out on Friday morning due to a lower back spasm.

In the eyes of Chamblee, Woods still has an extremely long road back to full recovery.

"I look at Tiger, and I can't help but think he looks like an old man," said Chamblee, winner of the 1998 Greater Vancouver Open.

"He looks like the oldest... 41-year-old man in the history of the game. I saw him getting out of the bunker on the first hole and he was standing very stiff and upright as he was getting out of the bunker, and he looked like he was walking around protecting an issue that he wasn't speaking to. That's very much what it looked like to me."

After explaining he thought Woods' swing looks a lot "slower" and lacks "vitality," Chamblee went on to question whether such a swing really is good for Woods' body.

"I hope he does come back. I hope he finds a way to health," he added.

"But, you know, this golf swing is a remnant of the golf swing he had seven years ago; and in my opinion, what he was doing almost seven years ago causes the injuries. It was injurous seven years ago, and I still think it's injurous today."
