Tiger Woods’ return to action saw ratings jump 200% on last year's event at the Hero World Challenge, according to Geoff Shackleford.
The 14-time major champion was competing for the first time in over 15 months following a spate of injuries, prompting more people to tune in for the opening round than any event since the Open, not taking into account the Ryder Cup.
Woods finished 15th in the 18-man field with rounds of 73, 65, 70 and 76.
Friday's round was up 200% on last year, while Saturday's live coverage was up 92% on NBC, and 162% on Golf Channel.
He did not compete in the competition last year.
