WGC Match Play: what each player needs to progress on Friday

Tiger Woods is one of many big-name stars on the verge of crashing out of the WGC Match Play ahead of the weekend's knockout stage after losing 2&1 to Brandt Snedeker on Thursday.

Woods must now beat Patrick Cantlay on Friday and hope Snedeker loses to Aaron Wise in order to reach the next round. A Woods win and Snedeker tie with Wise would result in a sudden-death playoff between Woods and Snedeker.

Phil Mickelson, Jason Day and Brooks Koepka have already been eliminated and can no longer progress whatever happens in their round-robin matches on Friday.

Other potential players departing the tournament on Friday could be Dustin Johnson, Justin Rose, Justin Thomas and Bryson DeChambeau, who all require wins on Friday and other results to go there way in order to progress.
