BURHILL GOLF CLUB has been selected to be a qualifying venue for The 2015 Senior Open Championship on July 20.
The Surrey-based club is to be one of four venues used for qualifying, which is expected to attract 400 players, competing for a coveted place in the main tournament on July 23-26, 2015.
Burhill, which boasts two 18-hole courses laid out in the Surrey heathland, will host the qualifying stage on its New Course, which stands at nearly 7,000 yards long and has hosted an annual PGA EuroPro Tour event since 2007.
Andy Stubbs, Managing Director of the European Senior Tour, said: “Burhill is a superb course and we look forward to working with all four venues in the build up to The 2015 Senior Open Championship.”
The announcement follows news that Burhill Golf Club, which is privately owned by members of the Guinness family, will also host a Regional Qualifying Stage of The 2016 Open Championship.
David Woodward, Burhill Golf Club General Manager, said: “Players from across the globe participate in the qualifying stages for both events and we look forward to welcoming them as they bid to compete in two of the most important tournaments on their respective tour’s calendars.
“For Burhill to be approached to host the events is testament to the quality of the courses.”
