TROON, the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing, continues to demonstrate the success of its venues on the international stage as Las Colinas Golf & Country Club and Lumine Golf Club welcome Stage 2 of The European Tour Qualifying School from November 2 to 5.
Following unanimous praise from competitors and tournament organisers after the 2012 staging, Q-School returns to the Spanish venues and will see aspiring players and veterans battle it out for one of golf’s most coveted prizes – full exemption on The European Tour.
“Both Las Colinas Golf & Country Club and Lumine Golf Club have demonstrated the ability to successfully deliver elite events of this pedigree and I believe they are better prepared than ever to put on a great show,” said Bruce Glasco, Senior Vice-President and Managing Director, Troon International Operations.
“It is satisfying that our focus on great course conditioning, quality service and experienced staff continues to be sought after by international organisations.”
The hotly contested four-day competition has a rich history of identifying future stars, with four-time European Tour winner Branden Grace advancing out of Q-School in 2011 and Saint-Omer Open winner Darren Fichardt graduating in 2012.
A new class of future champions is sure to emerge from Las Colinas Golf & Country Club and Lumine Golf Club’s testing layouts.
“When quality venues continue to deliver successful events, it makes sense to build upon it and cement partnerships,” said Mike Stewart Qualifying School Director, European Tour.
“Las Colinas Golf & Country Club and LUMINE Golf Club present their championship courses in immaculate condition and combined with their accessibility and first-class off-course facilities, the venues have all the solutions for our competitors.”
Amongst other venues, Stage 2 will take place over Las Colinas Golf & Country Club’s Cabell B. Robinson-designed par-71 6,973 yard championship course, distinguished by expansive bunkering and impressive water features and Lumine’s Greg Norman designed Lakes Course, the leading layout at the 45-hole facility.
Offering a world apart, Las Colinas Golf & Country Club is located south of Alicante along the Mediterranean coast, in the region of Valencia and lies along a picturesque valley of citrus trees and indigenous woodland.
In addition to the first-class golf facilities, the venue is also home to the International School of Falconry Las Colinas, luxury residences, including two- and three- bedroom apartments and villas available for holiday rental, an exclusive Beach Club, designer restaurants and a range of sporting facilities.
Located just south of Barcelona, Lumine Golf Club is also home to the Hills Course which runs through pine and olive trees with spectacular views of the nearby coastline.
The championship courses are further complimented by the aptly named 9-holes Ruins Course, another Norman design.
The club has received rich praise from elite training squads from Austria and Finland who have benefited from the resort’s state-of-the-art facilities, and is a popular choice for PGA Professionals leading group training.
Leisure enthusiasts benefit from LUMINE’s luxurious Beach Club and the award-winning LUMINE restaurant situated above the sweeping bay of Tarragona’s Playa Del Llarga.
