A collection of Forgan clubs belonging to Sir Alastair Buchan-Hepburn from Smeaton-Hepburn, will be among the most attractive lots at Bonham's golf memorabilia sale in Chester on January 25.

Forgan was one of the earliest clubmakers in Scotland and most of these examples are expected to fetch around £400. However, a Forgan longnose club, dated 1860 is estimated to attractive bids upto £1,500.

An early smooth gutty ball, dating from the 1850s, could well be the star of the auction, expected to fetch in excess of £10,000.
