Garmin has unveiled its "Approach S5" GPS watch with CourseView mapping, Touch Targeting and Manual Pin Positioning.

The device also measures distances to the front, middle and back of the green, in addition to displaying lay-up and dogleg distances at a glance.

Key features

  • CourseView mapping - preview hole details like doglegs, bunkers, water hazards and green shapes while on the course or in the clubhouse
  • GreenView - obtain the layout of the green, as well as nearby bunkers and water hazards
  • Touch Targeting - shows the precise distance to any point on the hole, whether it is a fairway, hazard or green
  • Drag and Drop - use the touchscreen to "drag and drop" the pin to the day’s location, providing an accurate yardage
  • Water resistant – the rugged design is water resistant up to 50m, so it is durable enough to withstand a rainstorm
  • Electronic scorecard – to save, review and share scores and stats
  • Battery life – up to 10 hours of battery life in GPS mode and up to 20 weeks in watch mode

The device comes preloaded with course data for more than 39,000 international courses and the Scorecard feature allows users to track stats, upload them to Garmin Connect and share and compare rounds with other fellow golfers.
