BILLY HORSCHEL clinched his second career PGA Tour title following a two-shot victory over Masters champion and fellow PING staff player Bubba Watson at the BMW Championship last night.
The 28-year-old American, who finished in a tie for second in his previous event at the Deutsche Bank Championship, carded a solid 1-under 69 featuring 11 consecutive pars to the clubhouse.
Horschel, who trusted a full bag of PING product including the new PING G30 driver and PING S55 irons, revealed a sense of pride at holding off one of the strongest fields of the season, particularly after squandering his chance on the 72nd hole at the Deutsche Bank Championship just seven days previous.
"I haven't had the greatest season but I had my game today," said Horschel, who ranked second in greens in regulation in Denver on an exceptional 76.39%.
"It feels good.
"Last week a lot of people called me a choker but I didn't choke. You don't choke coming from behind. To lead this thing and hold on means a lot."
Horschel now moves into second behind Chris Kirk heading into the final leg of the lucrative FedEx Cup Playoffs at the 30-man Tour Championship.
