Nike Golf is introducing speed tests at selected UK stores, offering golfers the chance to compare their own clubs with the new Nike VR-S woods, hybrids and irons.

And what’s more, those who take part could win the the chance to play alongside reigning US Masters champion Charl Schwartzel.

Each golfer who signs up for the trials between April 9 and May 14 (also in Germany, Austria and Sweden) receives a pack containing two of the latest Tour-level 20XI balls, and will be entered into a draw to win one of 18 invitations to an exclusive VIP golf day with Schwartzel.

The Nike VR-S clubs are described as ‘ultra-fast and distance-generating’ claiming more than 85 worldwide Tour wins and three major titles.

“When golfers are seeking extra distance, they immediately think about the driver,” says Tom Stites, director of product creation for Nike Golf.

“The amazing speed of the new VR-S driver more than delivers on that promise. However, the beauty of the entire VR-S family is that the new fairway woods are also fast and long, as are the irons and the hybrids.

“The cumulative result is that every club in the bag is going to get you to the green more quickly – and that means less strokes.”

He says NexCOR technology maximises distance for the widest range of players through a new face design which creates a bridge for hot, ultra-thin faces.

Twenty of American Golf’s stores will be taking part in the trials using special launch monitors with selected UK pro shops with Nike accounts, joining in from May to July.

Accumulative distance from participating golfers’ best shots hit with the driver, fairway wood and hybrid will be recorded and every golfer will be issued with a ‘Speeding Ticket’ that details the yardage gains measured against their old equipment. Results will be displayed on an in-store leaderboard.
