Yang makes it a TaylorMade day

Yang celebrates his win

YE Yang probably qualified for shot of the decade as well as shot of the year and shot of the tournament for his superbly executed No.3 TaylorMade TP hybrid approach to the 72nd hole at the weekend US PGA Championship.

While Tiger Woods has played dozen of shots that have made us gasp during his career, Yang's 210-yarder over a tree to pitch alongside the flagstick and set-up a winning birdie, was breathtakingly simple.

Using the 19-degree club - he also carries a 21-degree TP hybrid - he ended Woods' unbeaten run of tournament victories in which he has led after 54- holes.

"I wasn't in comfortable position of the tee," he recalled. "I was just off the fairway had a bit of tree in the way, too. I could have easily hit a flyer from that lie, but it went as true as I could hit it."

It was a stunning and popular victory for the affable Yang (37), who lives in Dallas, Texas and commented after the third round when he trailed Woods by four shots: "You never know in the game of golf. I'll just try to make every shot, just focus on every shot. Tomorrow I may end up inside the top 10, top three or even win the USPGA Championship. You never know."

Yang showed tremendous courage and control in in front of the largest gallery of his career and when he holed a deft chip for eagle on the par-4 14th with his TaylorMade rac 48-degree wedge a shock results looked on the cards if he could hold on.

The first Asian-born player to win a major championship, commented later after raising his TaylorMade bag triumphantly above his head:

"You never know in life - this might be my last win as a golfer. But hopefully it's going to be a big foundation for me to continue playing at the top level. It means the world to me right now and hasn't really sunk in. But I do know the significance of it."

Yang struck his TaylorMade TP Red LDP ball particularly well from tee to green throughout the week though a peek in his bag reveals few of TaylorMade's latest launches.

He used an R7 Limited driver, Burner and V Steel woods, the two Rescue hybrids and TaylorMade r7 irons.

The other two clubs Yang carries are a Nike SV wedge and Odyssey White Hot 2-Ball putter.
