MANCHESTER CITY manager Manuel Pellegrini is not only faltering on the football front as he has been placed on the waiting list at Hale Golf Club.
The avid golfer is said to have scouted local courses as soon as he arrived in Manchester and set his heart on joining the nine-hole course with his wife who is also a keen golfer.
The Chilean has enjoyed rounds at the club already as a guest and was expected to be offered membership straight away due to his celebrity – and the £1,245 joining fee and £925 will hardly dent his bank account.
But the 60-year-old will have to join the waiting list like everyone else before being considered for membership. His etiquette will be under the spotlight after he snubbed a handshake with Jose Mourinho after suffering a 2-1 loss at Stamford Bridge on Sunday - that wouldn't go down well on the last green!
Mobberley in Cheshire, another upmarket club, is struggling to fund a £2.5 million refurbishment and ex-Man City midfielder Gareth Barry is said to be coming to the rescue.
Football stars seem to have a love affair golf with struggling Manchester United players often seen at tournaments and Real Madrid starlets were so keen they even attempted to play footgolf. It also seems the golf community are keen on football, exhibited when Joost Luiten joined Dutch team Feyenoord for a kick-about.
