Left-hander Phil Mickelson made the first move when the US Masters got under way in Round Two this afternoon, to share the lead with Davis Love III.

Overnight leader Love bogeyed the first hole to drop back to four under par, then Mickelson joined him, Angel Cabrera and Sergio Garcia in a share of top spot with a birdie at the 575-yard par-5 second hole.

Love regained the upper hand with a birdie at the difficult par-4 third hole and currently stands five under par with 23 holes played of the Augusta tournament. Sergio Garcia had a birdie two at the fourth to join Love on -5.

Padraig Harrington made up for his dropped shot on the final hole last night with an immediate birdie three at his opening hole, to join the leaders but at the demanding par-3 fourth hole had to settle for bogey.

Denmark's Thomas Bjorn, a front-runner briefly in Atlanta last week, made a terrific start with five successive birdies to reach three under par.

Tiger Woods, Retief Goosen and Jose Maria Olazabal are due to start their second rounds just after 6pm (BST) tonight.
