With a growing presence on the European Tour and increasing demand for its products, Nike Golf is breaking new ground in the retailing of its golf equipment with the opening of the first in a planned series of Nike Golf Concept Stores in the UK.
Two recent converts to Nike golf equipment, Manchester United football stars Dwight Yorke and Teddy Sherringham, will be on hand on April 5th to open the doors to the first Nike Golf Concept Store, a dedicated 500 square feet retail area at JJB Playgolf, Trafford Park, Manchester.
And on May 7th, European Tour professionals Paul Lawrie and Dean Robertson, both players of Nike Golf equipment, will cut the tape to open the second Nike Golf Concept Store, a 1,200 square feet site within JJB at Western Road, Glasgow.
Awaiting inside the new Nike Golf Concept Stores is a retail site that will welcome consumers into the Nike Golf experience. The uniquely designed Nike Golf Concept Stores will not only offer the entire range of Nike golf equipment: interactive demonstrations, specially trained staff and bold point of sale material will combine to help golfers learn the groundbreaking stories of technological innovation behind Nike's golf range.
In a welcoming and comfortable environment, shoppers can learn, among other things:
... Why the Nike Precision Tour Accuracy golf ball range helped redefine perceptions about golf ball construction and catapulted Tiger Woods to a record-breaking 2000 season which included three major titles.
... How Nike's Proprietary Moisture Management (Dri-FIT, Therma-FIT and Storm-FIT) apparel is designed to keep golfers supremely comfortable in all weather conditions.
... What makes Nike Course Air golf shoes the preferred choice of a growing number of Tour professionals around the world and how Nike¹s technical superiority in the sport shoe market is translating to golf to the benefits of individual golfers worldwide.
"The Nike Golf Concept Stores offer a whole new environment for golfers to learn more about Nike's innovative range of golf products and how those products are designed to help people with their game," says Mike Kelly, communications director, Nike Golf.
Kelly continues, "Education is an important part of the buying process and the aim of the Nike Golf Concept Store is to help make consumers make well-informed choices, and enjoy themselves doing it."
Martin Wild, JJB explains, "Over the last year Nike golf has proven itself as a significant force in the golf business and now is putting all of their assets into a higher gear with an aggressive retail programme that matches our own. We want to ensure that anyone who visits one of our superstores has a memorable experience and looks forward to returning and by linking with Nike Golf to create a store within a store, dedicated to golfers, we are achieving that goal."
