Hal Sutton could become the seventh player from the world’s top ten to drop out of the WGC Accenture matchplay event in Melbourne this week.
Sutton is receiving treatment for a soft tissue injury in his lower back. The injury was caused about a week ago when Sutton swung his legs round to get out of his motorcar.
"It only hurts when I hit a golf ball", Sutton said, but "I don't think I would be doing the tournament any good if I couldn't compete".
The injury was possibly aggravated by the 33-hour journey that Sutton had to endure from his home in Louisiana USA, to Melbourne Australia.
"The plane trip over here didn't help”, joked Sutton.
Currently, if number two seed Sutton doesn’t drop out, he is due to play Australian left-hander Nick O’Hern.
