Englishmen Brian Davis and Greg Owen will be among 78 contenders at the 36-hole International Final Qualifying for the Open Championship at Gleneagles Country Club in Texas on Monday.
A highly-talented field including a plethora of PGA Tour regulars will look to earn one of eight lucrative spots in the third major of the season at Royal Lytham & St Annes from July 19 to 22.
Davis topped the field at last year’s weather-shortened IFQ following an opening round six-under and will be looking to make his ninth Open appearance, while Owen has fond memories of Royal Lytham having made an albatross at the par-5 11th en route to finishing in the top-25 the last time it was staged on the Lancashire links in 2001.
Other high-profile stars taking part include Harrison Frazar, George McNeill, Scott Piercy and Sean O’Hair who all have Tour victories to their names in the past 12 months.
Americans Robert Garrigus, Ryan Moore, Jeff Overton and Ryan Palmer will be hoping for a further taste of The Open having all featured last year at Royal St George’s and more than half of this year’s field have previous Open Championship experience including Rory Sabbatini, Stuart Appleby and Chris DiMarco.
The venue is just 20 miles from the TPC Four Seasons Resort where this week's Byron Nelson Championship is being played.
