Golf course architect Robert Trent Jones died last week a few days short of his 94th birthday. British-born Jones was responsible for designing courses in 29 countries or islands in every continent but Australia and Antarctica.
He also redesigned six US Open courses and built two others from scratch - Hazeltine National near Minneapolis and Bellerive in St Louis. His son Rees said: "The US Open was so important to his life. It is fitting that he leaves us during the US Open."
