Four more stars of football past and present have boosted the line-up for the eagerly-awaited Golf Champions of Football taking place at Vila Sol golf course in Portugal from June 1 to 8, when proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the ‘Keep Your Eye on the Ball’ initiative backed by the FA, The PFA and Everyman, which conducts research into prostate and testicular cancers.
Leeds United manager Simon Grayson and Ireland and Wolves player Andy Keogh will join Sky Sports TV presenters Paul Walsh and Peter Beagrie in the tournament aimed at football fans looking to represent their football clubs. Pros already committed are Cardiff City manager Dave Jones, Neil Cox (Ex-Aston Villa); Darren Purse (Sheffield Wed), and Sky football pundit Don Goodman.
“We already have 16 teams entered, so football fans who play golf need to dust down their spikes quickly if they are to stand a chance of representing their club out in the Algarve in June,” says Darryl Kenyon of DK Events that is staging the innovative tournament.
Fans who have already committed themselves to representing their club include teams from Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Bolton and Leeds United.
Cost of a three night, five-star package including accommodation, golf and gala dinner is £650 per person or £2,400 for a fourball. For further information visit: www.golfchampionsoffootball.com.
