It would be appear the return to form of Tiger Woods and immediate rise to fame of World No.1 Rory McIlroy have made a remarkable difference to television ratings during PGA Tour coverage this season.
According to Austin Karp of Sports Business Journal, viewership for PGA Tour coverage is up dramatically on all three major sports networks compared to last season.
For NBC Sports, the 3.42million viewer average for weekend rounds - 45% up on 2011 - marks the highest since their current contract began in 2007. That contract currently paves the way to weekend coverage at the likes of The Players Championship, the FedEx Cup Playoffs and the Memorial Tournament.
Elsewhere, The Golf Channel is up 28.5% (847,000 compared to 659,000) and CBS has increased 20.2% (2.75million compared to 2.28million).
