Having reduced the US open field close to tears after his 15 shot humiliation around Pebble Beach, Tiger Woods decided to see golf from the other side yesterday as he caddied for an old College buddy in 100-degree heat.
The World number One and most recognisable sportsman on the globe caddied for Jerry Chang, his former college roommate at Stanford as Chang attempted to qualify for the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship.
But Woods will never match up to the likes of Fluff or Steve Williams on the bag as his pal Chang failed to qualify for the next stage of the event, missing the cut by one shot.
Woods was not exactly incognito either. He wore shorts, a golf shirt, sunglasses and no hat and surprised everyone who played the event.
"We looked up around 6 or 7 and word was out that Tiger was on the golf course," Black Mountain general manager Jim Stanfill said. "Nobody believed it until we saw it. I was thrilled."
