Ian Poulter took to social media in an epic rant after he saw the state of the greens at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club, where members and guests had failed to repair multiple pitch marks.

The Englishman missed the cut at The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, so headed to Lake Nona for some practice, but couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the number of pitch marks left unrepaired on multiple greens.

"Shame I'm not at TPC but anyway, we're at Lake Nona, we've got one of the purest greens anywhere in Florida, but come on guys seriously," said Poulter at the start of his rant, before repeating "pitch marks" over and over again every time he spotted one.

Poulter then sarcastically demonstrated how simple it is to repair a pitch mark, before ending the video by saying: "Lazy people, repair your pitch marks."

The Ryder Cup veteran shot 4-over par after the opening two rounds to miss the cut at The Players Championship, something that a number of high profile players did, including Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton and many more big names.

Poulter did provide some entertainment early on in the week, when he sat down for lunch alongside Hatton, McIlroy and Henrik Stenson following the opening round and tried to see the funny side of the nightmare start for the four European stars.

"We've got a hell of a lunch table here in the players' lounge," said Poulter on Thursday.

"Tyrrell has decided to sit down and join Rory and I. So collectively, the four people sat at this table; myself, Rory, Henrik, who's just left, and Tyrrell... 29 over!

"What a bunch of muppets!"
