Following his impressive comeback victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational two weeks’ ago, Tiger Woods has also made a return to the virtual green.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 has a mixture of old features with new ideas. It’s even engaged in new swing mechanics, just like Tiger in real life.

The new gameplay in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 gives you much more control of your ball than ever before thanks to its new ‘Total Swing Control’.

Taking its most significant leap forwards in swing mechanics in more than a decade, the game revolutionises the virtual golf swing. Golfers take full control of their swing with all-new tempo, swing plane and show power controls along with an adjustable shot setup.

Gamers can also improve their game with a true-to-life golf swing created for the PlayStation Move. Fans are once again able to emulate their swing style at they drive the ball down the fairway or sink a 30-foot putt.

You can even control the tempo of your shots by swinging the shot stick fast for more power, or slowly if you fancy some finesse around the greens.

Putting, I have to admit, is pretty difficult to master. But then again, it did used to be rather simple.

Other exciting new features include the Tiger Legacy Challenge, which lets you take control of Tiger throughout his career starting as a baby-faced two-year-old messing around in his sandpit.

Although slightly bizarre, it’s rather entertaining and certainly adds a different dimension to the game.

There are also 14 additional championship courses, such as The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island and Royal Birkdale, and 22 licensed pro golfers, including new additions Luke Donald, Hunter Mahan, Graeme McDowell, Dustin Johnson and Bubba Watson.

Elsewhere, you’ve also got the standard career mode and thrill of competing in The Masters, as too a host of unlockable rewards every time you accrue more experience points. There are even what amounts to online clans with the new virtual Country Clubs.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 is also the first-ever sports simulation for the Kinect for Xbox 360, tracking full body movements to create the most advanced virtual golf swing to date.

Controller-free and voice-enabled controls provide for a unique, never-before seen sports gaming experience.

The in-game swing recognition system for the Kinect for Xbox 360 scans more than 1,000 data points in real time to recognise the player’s swing mechanics.

By far the best Tiger Woods game this generation mainly due to its innovative new Total Swing Control.

The game provides plenty of game modes, improved online options and all the official licenses you could wish for.
