ProQuip has been named as the preferred weatherwear supplier to the 2012 European Ryder Cup side at Medinah Country Club, two years after the US team had to buy ProQuip waterproofs because their own waterproofs suffered 'malfunctions' under a Celtic Manor deluge.

The lightweight ProQuip weatherwear brand will design and supply bespoke rain suits for the Europeans featuring fabric technology, specially designed for Jose-Maria Olazabal and his players. Sun Mountain supplied US weatherwear in 2010 but as yet the providers have yet to be named.

“It’s a great privilege and honour to play a part in the greatest team event in golf,” said ProQuip chief designer, Richard Head.

ProQuip has designed rain suits for more than a dozen Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup teams since 1991.
