Practice facilities

The Hampshire also has some excellent practice facilities, with a ten-bay, 300-yard driving range just beyond the car park, as well as a putting green and short-game area in front of the clubhouse.

There is also the new Academy Course - a nine-hole course (with 18 tees) consisting par-3s and par-4s which can be played for just £5 (nine holes) or £8 (18 holes).

There are buggies available for hire at relatively cheap rates, especially in the afternoon.

Whether you're after a quick nine after work or the full 18, the Hampshire is recommended. The course is not the toughest you'll ever see, but the greens and fairways were fairly firm when we played (July 2013), so your short game will need to be on form to post a low score.

We received a very warm welcome on arrival, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the members down-to-earth. The picturesque setting and reasonable green fees make this course great value for money.
