8. Beamish Park Golf Club

Beamish Park has an 18-hole 6,183-yard parkland course as well as a separate nine-hole loop. It is a fairly hilly course, situated near the A693 in the north of County Durham.

9. Wynyard Golf Club

Wynyard Golf Club, located between Middlesbrough and Hartlepool, is one of the finest courses in the Northeast. The club is home to one of 20 David Leadbetter Golf Academy branches worldwide. The par-72 parkland and woodland championship course at Wynyard - the Wellington Course - measures 6,851 yards and hosted the 2005 Seve Trophy.

10. Chester-le-Street Golf Club

Chester-le-Street's par-71 6,479-yard parkland course is over 100 years old. One side of the course is lined by forest and the River Wear hugs another. All the greens - although fairly tricky - are between 400-450 square yards in area, meaning golfers of all abilities should have a chance of playing to their handicap.
