Real Madrid not only got the better of FC Barcelona at Camp Nou last week as they ousted their arch rivals at the Nacex Golf and Padel Challenge at PGA Catalunya Resort.
Just a couple of days before Cristiano Ronaldo sealed a 2-1 triumph to all-but wrap up La Liga for Madrid, the highly-acclaimed Spanish course played host to a charity Stableford matchplay tournament in aid of a humanitarian aid project to help children in Kenya.
The Madrid team, comprising ex-President Ramon Calderon and former players Jose Martinez, Santi Aragon, San Jose Isidoro, Alfonso Perez, Francisco Pavon and Miguel Angel Ferrer, comfortably overcame their El Clasico rivals, consisting of Michael Reiziger, Txiki Begiristain, Alexanco, Santi Ezquerro, Marcos Alonso and Jose Maria Minguella.
However, in the Padel Challenge Barcelona redressed the balance with the Catalan duo of Angel Cuellar and Christopher Parralo claiming victory for their teammates – Charly Reixach, Sergi Barjuan, Felip Chapi Ferrer and Ortiz. Dani Garcia and Andres Sabido were among those representing Real Madrid.
Visitors purchasing three green fees to play the resort’s Stadium and Tour courses within seven consecutive days will be entered into a draw to win a year’s special free membership worth €25,000.
