It doesn't matter what you wear out on the course when you have a swing like Fred Couples (not that he wasn't ever one of the most stylish names on tour), but taking to the tee in a full Malbon get-up certainly can't hurt.

Thankfully, we're set to see this happy eventuality more regularly in future, as the California apparel designer has announced Couples will become the newest high-profile golfer to join the brand as a sponsored player.

“I am incredibly honored to welcome Freddie Couples to the squad. Freddie’s legacy in golf speaks for itself—he’s one of the game’s greats, he embodies the understated confidence and authenticity we stand for,” Malbon golf founder Stephen Malbon said.

“This partnership represents a significant milestone for us, and we couldn’t be more excited to work with someone I have admired for so long.”

In signing a deal, the Masters champion becomes the latest high-profile acquisition for a brand racking up big names who are confident about bringing a renewed sense of style to the game, including Jason Day and Charley Hull.

He will rep the brand's clothes during his appearances at PGA Tour Champions events, as well as at the Masters where we can only assume he'll once again compete having become the oldest player in tournament history to make the cut in 2023.

Malbon's penchant for creating classically-minded coursewear fits perfectly with Couples' aesthetic, with the American symbolic of an era defined by the baggy polos, free-flowing pants and visors that Malbon sells in spades. We'll see the partnership in full bloom as the Champions tour gets back underway in 2026.
