When it comes to CHAMP, I've only previously encountered the brand for its use in outstanding tee pegs and soft spikes. I can now add golf grips to the impressive lineup of premium products.

To bolster the brand's golf line, CHAMP has recently introduced its C Series grips, including the top-of-the-line C8 Grip.

The new CHAMP C8 grip is made from a new optimum feel TPO material infused with Kevlar® for greater torque control and incredible wear resistance.

Following a recent testing session with the C8, we received a non-slip feel throughout the round, even when the heavens opened, while the anti shock wrap provided a comfortable feel and excellent shock absorption through impact, particularly on off-centre hits.

Not quite on par with some of the Golf Pride and Lamkin grips we've tested this year in terms of comfort at least, but with all due respect to the brand, it performed much better than we thought it would. There was enough feel and traction to get excited about here, as well as an eye-catching array of colours available.

The combination of tackiness and a rather aggressive surface pattern provided us with excellent traction in the swing and great resiliency in wet weather. The surface pattern is slightly more abrasive to the hands than some grips out there, so they may perform best for those players that wear a golf glove.

Overall, a great grip for performance and feel but perhaps a little pricey in relation to some of the others on the market.
