Nike promotes new clubs

Nike’s marketing machine is cranking up to promote the company’s debut into the club category.

Already David Duval is using a set of protoype irons on the US PGA Tour and now the company wants to increase consumer awareness in a novel fashion.

Beginning on October 29, the first of several “Webisodes” - short video presentations entitled, The Art of Clubmaking - will be revealed on Nike Golf’s Web site at www.nikegolf.com.

The Web tactic is designed to heighten consumer demand for Nike’s first club products, which are scheduled to be unveiled at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida, in January.

The Web videos, for example, will show how Nike Golf’s tour staff contributed to the club design and development process. They also will feature the company’s design team and address research and development initiatives.

In addition, visitors to the Nike Golf Web site will have the opportunity to register in a sweepstakes to win a set of custom fitted Nike Golf clubs, this is likely to be avaialble to European visitors to the site.
