FIGHT! What each player needs to do to earn final European Ryder Cup spot

Scotland's Robert MacIntyre has a slight advantage to take a spot in the Ryder Cup side via the European points list in the final week of qualifying.

FIGHT! What each player needs to do to earn final European Ryder Cup spot

In the final week of qualifying, Robert MacIntyre is in prime position to claim a Ryder Cup spot via the European points list.

But a number of golfers could theoretically snatch the opportunity from the Scot to wear the gold and blue in Rome in a few weeks' time.

Here, GolfMagic takes a look at who is in contention via the European points list and what they need to do at the European Masters as the DP World Tour heads to Switzerland.

Who is in contention:

  • Robert MacIntyre
  • Yannik Paul
  • Adrian Meronk
  • Victor Perez
  • Rasmus Hojgaard
  • Adrian Otaegui

What they need to do:

Robert MacIntyre:

  • The Scot can still be caught even if he finishes second. A win guarantees his space. A top-three finish from fellow contenders threatens his position.

Yannik Paul:

  • Like MacIntyre, he will qualify with a victory. Outside of that scenario, he needs to finish at least third with two others, or better, to have a chance.

Adrian Meronk:

  • Needs to finish T-2 with one other player or better to have a chance.

Rasmus Hojgaard:

  • Needs a win to have a chance

Adrian Otageui:

  • Needs a win to have a chance

What else is happening?

Tommy Fleetwood could also have qualified this week via the European points list but he is not teeing it up in Switzerland.

Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Viktor Hovland and Tyrrell Hatton have booked their spaces via the world points list.

One place remains via the world points list and Matthew Fitzpatrick - in the field at the European Masters - has a slight advantage over Fleetwood.

Fitzpatrick needs to finish T-7 with one other player or better here to take the final place.

Still here?
