Olympics Golf Final Round: LIVE leaderboard and updates from Le Golf National in Paris

Welcome to live golf scores, updates and commentary from the final round of the 2024 Men's Olympics Golf Tournament at Le Golf National.

Scottie Scheffler continued his remarkable year by claiming the gold medal in the Olympic men's golf competition in Paris.

Scheffler tore round Le Golf National on Sunday, carding a final round of 9-under 62 to reach 19-under par.

England's Tommy Fleetwood secured the silver medal, finishing on 18-under par.

Hideki Mastuyama took the bronze after he finished one stroke behind the Englishman.

Jon Rahm held a four-shot lead at the summit on the back nine but two bogeys and a double bogey from the Spaniard saw his challenge for the gold medal blow up in smoke.

Rahm finished in a tie for fifth on 15-under with Rory McIlroy.

Home favourite Victor Perez fired a sublime, out-of-nowhere 63 to finish in solo fourth on 16-under.

Nicolai Hojgaard, Tom Kim, Joaquin Niemann, Thomas Detry, Jason Day, Corey Conners and Xander Schauffele also finished inside the top-10.

Jon Rahm has been speaking to reporters.

Former PGA Tour player, Golf Channel analyst and prominent LIV Golf critic Brandel Chamblee has labelled Rahm's collapse on the back nine at Le Golf National today as the 'biggest choke of the year'.

Reaction from Rory McIlroy

Rory McIlroy has been speaking to reporters after his Olympic Games ended in disappointment.

Here's what he had to say

16:51
Reaction coming up!

What a year for Scottie Scheffler.

The 28-year-old won his second green jacket in April at the 2024 Masters.

Now he's won a gold medal.

Scheffler has also been having a sensational year on the PGA Tour.

He won the Players at TPC Sawgrass, Arnold Palmer Invitational, RBC Heritage, the Memorial and the Travelers Championship.

Scheffler has to be the best golfer since Tiger Woods.

16:35
Scottie Scheffler is the Olympic champion

It's a valiant effort from Tommy Fleetwood, but his chip rolls by some five feet.

Scottie Scheffler is the Olympic champion.

What a year for the American.

He embraces his caddie Ted Scott on the range.

16:30
Fleetwood into 18

Wow. Long and left from Fleetwood into the 72nd hole.

Unless we have a miracle, Scottie Scheffler is the Olympic champion.

He needs to get that up-and-down to guarantee a silver.

What can Rahm do with a great angle into the green?

It's not close at all...

16:26
Rahm finds the fairway

Rahm finds the fairway. Just.

His golf ball stops a few feet short of the water hazard.

Rahm also has a chance to tie Hideki Matsuyama on 17-under and playoff for the bronze.

16:24
One group remains on the golf course

Fleetwood, Rahm and Schauffele head to the final hole.

Can Fleetwood find the fairway? He's rightly nervous as his golf ball leaks right.

But he catches the first cut of rough.

Huge sigh of relief for Fleetwood.

He has a chance.

Scheffler is on the range getting ready for a potential playoff...

16:21
Fleetwood and Rahm make bogey

Fleetwood -18, Rahm -16 (17)

Oh no!

Fleetwood misses his par putt. Likewise Rahm.

Where did that come from?

Nerves do funny things to people...

16:18
Oh dear, Tommy Fleetwood

Heavy-handed from Fleetwood at the 17th.

He's got work to do now to save par.

That was extremely heavy-handed.

16:17
Rory McIlroy's Olympics ends in disappointment

Rory McIlroy is in the clubhouse now on 15-under after posting a 5-under 66 at Le Golf National.

McIlroy made five birdies in a row from the 10th and was very much in the hunt for a medal.

But his challenge was undone by a double at the par-4 16th.

That knocked the wind right out of his sails.

He closes with three straight pars.

16:13
It came out better than expected

Fleetwood's ball isn't sitting great.

But he gets plenty of club on it.

That thing came out hot, and he's long of the green!

Work to do now for the Englishman.

Rahm is also playing from the rough, and he's about one foot shy of the green.

Both players need something special here.

16:11
"Get a lie"

Tommy Fleetwood sends his tee shot on its way at the 17th.

And he hates it.

He's yelling at his golf ball to find a lie...

16:08
Scheffler misses, posts clubhouse lead on 19-under

Scottie Scheffler sends his birdie putt on its way.

This was never going to be short.

Will it drop? No!

His golf ball trickles by the left side of the cup.

He tucks away his par putt and posts a bogey-free 9-under 62.

That's a joint course record at Le Golf National.

He's guaranteed a medal, the only question is, which colour will it be?

16:04
The dream is alive again for Jon Rahm?! Fleetwood moves to 19-under!

Rahm -17, Fleetwood -19 (16)

Never say never to Jon Rahm.

Ater two bogeys and a double bogey, Rahm bounces back at the 16th by holing a birdie putt from 28ft.

What can Tommy do?

BIRDIE! IT DROPS!

I need a lie down.

16:00
Scheffler's approach at 18

Oh my word.

Scottie Scheffler goes for it at the 18th!

And he finds the putting surface.

He'll have a birdie putt for a 10-under 61!

15:57
Fleetwood close at 16

Tommy Fleetwood steps up and plays a superb golf shot to about 12 feet at the par-3 16th.

Now what does Jon Rahm do?

He goes straight at it, but it's short.

Outside look for birdie.

15:54
Pars for Rahm and Fleetwood

Rahm -16, Fleetwood -18 (15)

Fleetwood settles for his par.

And in truth he would have taken that given he was so far away.

Meanwhile, Rahm looks like he's about to burst.

His birdie putt just drifts by.

And that, you would assume, means his challenge for Olympic gold is all but over...

15:53
Maybe Scottie Scheffler is human?!

"Oh my gosh"

The words of Scottie Scheffler as he watches his tee shot at the 18th find the rough.

What does he do now?

The lie doesn't look great

15:49
Scottie Scheffler takes the lead!

Scheffler -19 (17)

Chants of USA bellow out around Le Golf National.

Scheffler's putt drops!

That's NINTH birdie of the day.

It's not often we see outbursts of emotion from Scheffler, but it's fair to say he absolutely loved that.

15:47
Jon Rahm won't go down without a fight

Does the fightback start here?

He splits the fairway at the 15th and is close to the pin.

Fleetwood, meanwhile, doesn't love his approach.

He has 35ft for birdie.

Schauffele, we regret to inform you, is in the water.

15:42
How good is Scottie Scheffler?

Very.

The American has problems off the tee at 17 and is forced to take an almighty swipe at his golf ball from the rough.

Somehow, he finds the green.

And his ball keeps rolling towards the pin.

Birdie chance to take the lead incoming...

15:40
What an effort from Victor Perez

A sensational round of golf from Victor Perez.

The Frenchman posts an 8-under 63 to reach 16-under and take the clubhouse lead.

It may not even be good enough for a medal but that is simply sensational.

Matsuyama safely aboard at 16

Matsuyama -17 (16*)

Lovely tee shot from the former Masters champion.

He's got a great birdie look.

How will Rory McIlroy respond to that double?
