PING reveals i20 series of woods

The much-anticipated PING i20 drivers, fairway metals and hybrids are revealed today, with company boss John Solheim claiming that ‘anyone who is passionate about their game is going to be confident and capable with the clubs’ game-improvement technology.’

A feature of the woods and hybrids - complimenting the PING G20s launched in July - is their matt-black finish, which Ping says will enable players to focus on their shots without distraction.

The 460cc driver head - available in 8.5, 9.5 and 10.5-degree lofts - has been made with a light-absorbent, aerodynamic shape to reduce drag and generate greater clubhead speed and ball velocity. Two stock shafts are available - the PING TFC 707D for a low-spin, boring trajectory or the lighter Project X Black by True Temper, for mid-spin and a higher trajectory.

Drivers are priced at £299.

The PING i20 fairway woods (£200 each) have similar shafts available in three lofts (Strong 3, 3- and 5-wood) while the hybrids (£160) come in 17-, 20- and 23-degree options.

Adds Solheim: “Our Tour pros are very enthusiastic about the finish and the i20s’ performance. They are are able to execute any shot they want with confidence.

“We gave the fairway woods and hybrids the same matt finish and with their high-launching forgiveness, it makes them reliable from all turf conditions and from the tee.”
