Summary: MP-54 is a thick, powerful Grain Flow Forged iron crafted to awaken the shotmaker in players needing just a little forgiveness. A deep Milled Pocket Cavity (3-7 iron) delivers stability from off centre hits, while a heavily bevelled sole ensures cleaner turf interaction and the workability to take your ball striking to the next level. The pure feel of Mizuno's one piece Grain Flow Forged 1025E Mild Carbon steel construction is heightened through a Step Muscle design that retains thickness behind impact.

Looks: MP-54 has that better player appeal - which let's face it, will strike accord with just about everyone playing this game - but is packed with game improvement performance. Its modern, classic appearance is created through a unique marriage of Computer Aided Design and traditional craftsmanship. Very similar to the new Mizuno MP-4, with the classic Mizuno clubhead design, narrow topline and eye-catching running bird splashed on a chrome finish. Gorgeous. 5 (out of 5)

Feel: Butter. Easily the softest player iron in this test. Feels like a blade, of which Adam likened it to his previous MP33s. Extremely sweet off the face, too, and delivers exceptional distance control across the range. As always, nothing feels like a Mizuno. 9.5 (out of 10)

Performance: Performs like a blade but it's still got that forgiveness on offer if you've not played for a few weeks. Not the longest but nice mid-high launch, consistent distance control and tight dispersion pattern for both testers. Very easy to work, particularly left to right - aided by modified hosel blend that creates the illusion of less offset. 9 (out of 10)

Verdict: Fantastic bag appeal, standard Mizuno feel and tremendous forgiveness and high launch to get excited about with the long irons. This is a powerful Grain Flow Forged iron crafted to awaken the shotmaker in players needing just a little forgivenes. Both testers would have rather used a KBS Tour shaft than the standard S300 on offer, but that's nothing a custom fitting with Mizuno's Swing DNA cannot sort. Worth every penny of its price tag. 23.5 (out of 25)
