This might just be the cheapest full-featured launch monitor yet

While the very best launch monitors still remain well out of the hands of most golfers, the space for more affordable launch monitors is growing apace.

We've already reviewed Shot Scope's LM1 launch monitor, which offers basic data like club speed and distance for practice sessions at a price under £200. We found it to be pretty good, but the issue with many more affordable monitors is that the data you get isn't quite complete enough to get a full picture of your game.

The Blue Tees Rainmaker, the latest product from the rapidly-growing rangefinder and GPS brand, promises what might be the cheapest entry-point into mid-range launch monitors yet. It still uses a Doppler Radar rather than photographic technology, but nonetheless claims to be able to measure metrics like club path, launch angle and, most importantly, spin. And it costs just £599 (around 25 times less than a Trackman).

The Rainmaker performs very similarly to most launch monitors of its kind, with a high-res LCD display showing club metrics in real-time. The Rainmaker then pairs up with a Blue Tees LAUNCH App, showing live shot tracking, and performance analysis with 21 club and ball data points plus session history, dispersion mapping, club and bag mapping, and advanced long-term analysis.

It also has three distinct modes, with a practice Mode for full-session shot tracking, Target Distance Mode for gapping and distance control, and a Swing Speed Mode for speed and tempo training.

Blue Tees have engineered some neat quality of life features into the monitor. It's IPX4 water resistant, enabling it to perform in light inclement weather, has been optimised to use with both conventional and radar-enhanced golf balls, and has a nifty magnetic remote that slots into its rear enabling the user to quickly shift between modes without having to bend down.
