Alex Noren wins BMW PGA with course-record 62
Sweden's Alex Noren produces round of the year to land ninth European Tour title.
Alex Noren posted a magical course-record 10-under 62 to race through the field and land the BMW PGA Championship by two strokes at Wentworth.
Noren, 34, started the final day seven strokes off the pace at 1-under in a tie for 21st but he closed the deficit to three with four birdies on his opening seven holes.
The Swede then made a superb par at the par-4 eighth after finding trouble off the tee, before rolling home further birdies at 12, 13, 14 and a 40-foot bomb at 16 to tie the lead.

A disappointing par came at the par-5 17th but Noren made immediate amends with arguably the shot of the week as he sent a long iron to within five-feet of the pin for a resulting eagle at the par-5 18th to reach 11-under.
"It feels amazing," said Noren, who had been in the players lounge for nearly two hours after his round.
"It was one of those days. I would love to know what was going through my head. I was looking at 17 and 18 as the chances for birdies, but the putt at 16 was big.
"I needed an all-out 5-iron with my second shot at 18. It felt like I duffed it but I didn't! I was shaking over the putt. I haven't had the best record up the 18th hole, especially on Saturday where I made double bogey, so I was relieved. I felt like it owed me something.
"It feels unbelievable and it's probably the biggest win of my career."
As Noren sat back in the clubhouse, the heavens opened and the chasing pack fell away one by one - none more so than Shane Lowry who fired his tee shot out of bounds at 15, and Branden Grace who made a double bogey at the par-5 12th when finding water off the tee.
Francesco Molinari - GolfMagic's tip of the week - finished in solo second on 9-under after posting a final-round 68.
The win, which moves Noren up into the world's top 10 for the first time in his life, marks his ninth career European Tour title and fifth victory since July 2016.
It also marks the first win of the European Tour's new Rolex Series, counting the results of eight of the circuit's biggest tournaments.
