REVEALED: How Tiger Woods brokered Nelly Korda relationship for Joe LaCava

The story of how Joe LaCava, Tiger Woods' long-time caddie, ended up on Nelly Korda's bag this week for the LPGA Tour tournament in New Jersey has finally been revealed.

Back in mid-April, it was announced that Woods had undergone a subtalar fusion procedure following The Masters and his expected date of return is still unknown.

As a result, the 47-year-old's long-time caddie, LaCava, has since taken on the role of Patrick Cantlay's full-time caddie on the PGA Tour

He worked with the World No. 4 this past week in Charlotte, North Carolina for the Wells Fargo Championship. The pair finished tied for 21st at the PGA Tour's latest designated event.

However, Cantlay has taken this week off as he is not playing in the AT&T Byron Nelson in Texas, freeing up LaCava's schedule.

And the famous caddie turned up in New Jersey with LPGA Tour star Korda on Wednesday to the surprise of many:

And now, we know the story of how this all came about.

According to golf commentator Grant Boone, who was speaking on Sirius XM PGA Tour Radio on Thursday, Woods played a key role.

"According to Joe [LaCava]," Boone said. "Tiger brokered this relationship."

Woods, per Boone, has gotten to know Korda over the past few years at the PNC Championship.

And the 82-time PGA Tour winner was aware that Korda was in need of a caddie this week as her current one, Jason McDede, just had a baby with his wife and fellow LPGA Tour player, Caroline Masson.

Thus, LaCava ended up in New Jersey for his first LPGA Tour tournament as a caddie with this week's Cognizant Founders Cup at Upper Montclair Country Club.

However, his time on Korda's bag will be a brief one, as McDede is expected to return for Korda's next start.
