England's Laura Davies has launched her own fan club in a bid to keep up with the growing number of requests for her time. Davies, the runaway winner of last year's LET Order of Merit, hopes the club will also help to attract more youngsters into the game and help to repay those who have supported her over the years.
"Laura was receiving so many letters from fans that we thought it a good idea to launch her own fan club," said Davies' cousin Matt Adams, managing director of Laura Davies Productions.
"Through the fan club we hope to be in a better position to respond to all her mail and also give youngsters the opportunity to meet Laura and become more involved with her career and women's golf in general."
Members of the Laura Davies Fan Club will receive a personal welcome letter from Davies, a signed photo and copy of her training video. They will also get the chance to win a Laura Davies golf shirt and play with her in a pro-am. Added Adams: "Golf is the fastest growing sport among women, and with the LET increasing the profile of the women's game here in Europe, Laura has become more and more in demand.
"The Club is another way for Laura to give something back to the sport that has served her so well over the years. Like all top professionals, Laura is constantly on the road and it has been difficult for her to keep in touch with her fans. The Club will allow her more interaction with her fans."
